Graduate Profile: April LaCroix
Give a green thumbs-up to April LaCroix ‘05! Utilizing her knowledge of economics and sustainability, she helped Wright Hall become Alma College's first environmentally friendly residence hall.
“At Alma, I was able to immediately apply what I learned in the classroom to my volunteer work, research and personal life,” she says. “It’s the kind of school where you don’t have to wait to start changing the world.”
Since then, LaCroix has assisted in launching a consulting firm that helps businesses, including Fortune 500 companies, integrate their corporate strategy with sustainability practices.
She is currently a graduate student at the University of Michigan, a summer intern with the Chicago “Green Jobs for All” initiative and a campus leader of the business leaders group, Net Impact.
LaCroix’s humble beginnings as the founder of Alma’s residence hall recycling program have led her to re-landscaping infrastructure in the business world.
“The global crisis we face today will not be solved in a vacuum,” she says. “The business sector, as an entity that easily rivals government in scope and power, must be the leader.”
