Student Profile: Elizabeth Saylor

Elizabeth Saylor knew she wanted to major in exercise and health science and Alma attracted her with its reputation and cadaver lab.

“I wanted to go somewhere that had small class sizes but still offered lots of opportunities,” the Allen Park senior says. “At Alma, I am able to not only learn all of the facts I need to go on in EHS, but also to acquire a good grasp of the big picture - how ’health’ really encompasses so many different things.”

Once she finishes graduate school, Saylor would like to work with children who have developmental disabilities.

“All the one-on-one experience I’ve had in all of the EHS lab settings will be very useful to me as I go on to graduate school,” she says.

Saylor is a member of the Alma Choir and Sigma Alpha Iota (the women’s music fraternity). She is also the secretary of the EHS honor society, the student supervisor for the main switchboard, and works at the Alma Middle School with the Explore Program.

The Alma College Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE) team claimed its sixth consecutive regional championship at the SIFE USA Regional Competition in March 2007. The competition awards the SIFE teams that are most effective in teaching the principals of market economics through outreach projects in their communities.
