Cognitive Science is an interdisciplinary approach to the study of the mind. Its constituent fields are Computer Science, Psychology, Philosophy, Neuroscience and Linguistics. The Cognitive Science Group consists of faculty representatives from the constituent disciplines. Students pursuing work in this area will find Alma's program appropriate preparation for specialization in either interdisciplinary study or a constituent field.

Alma is one of seven Michigan colleges and universities to hold membership in the Omicron Delta Kappa Society, the national leadership society that recognizes and encourages superior scholarship, leadership and exemplary character. Sean Mo has an undergraduate professor to thank for both his love for chemistry and his desire to teach.
“I had an incredible physical chemistry professor at Whitman College, and he made us appreciate the field of chemistry,” the assistant professor of chemistry says. “Furthermore, it was his personable interaction with his students in class that really drew me into the field. I learned a lot from him, and the rest is history.”
