Science Blowout- December 2nd, 2011
Science Blowout is our biannual chemistry show which brings in other departments, such as biology, psychology, and physics. It includes a tour of Dow Science Center as participants enter different rooms for different subjects and different experiments. Near the end of students' stay, we hold our "Big Show" in Dow L1, the largest lecture hall in Dow, as a group of our members gives a presentation including all the fun chemistry facts and cool tricks we've learned over the years!

Leadership Profile

Mariah Nawrot

Mariah Nawrot
Graduation: 2014
Major: Biology and Chemistry

Because she is the Alma College swim team captain and a resident assistant, those who work with Mariah Nawrot might be surprised to find out that the seemingly natural leader is actually very shy.

“Alma has made me step out of my comfort zone and become a leader,” she says. “Despite my shyness, I’ve learned that people are really willing to listen to your guidance if you’re respectful and also listen to where they’re coming from.”
