Chemistry Club

Alma College Chemistry Club and XEM Honorary Chemistry

Alma College's chemistry club is an on-campus club that meets weekly in the lobby of Dow Science Center on Tuesday nights at 10:00pm.  Our Chemistry Club and XEM honorary work together and meet together which brings unity between the casual chemist or first year students and our upper level Chemistry community.  Together we run chemistry shows for local elementary schools, home or away.  We have two biannual major chemistry shows which we call our "Science Blowouts!"  With the help of the biology, physics and chemistry clubs and our Alma College natural sciences staff we create an atmosphere for everyone to enjoy!

Be sure to attend all meetings in DOW lobby @ 10pm Tuesday nights!... Or contact us via email at Chemistry Club for more information.

More than 100 Alma College students and staff traveled to destinations in New Mexico, Tennessee, Philadelphia, Louisiana and North Carolina for service projects during winter break in February 2007. “Alternative Break service experiences continue to gain popularity on Alma College’s campus,” says Sallie Scheide, assistant director in the Center for Responsible Leadership.

Graduate Profile

Katie Wibby

Katie Wibby
Graduation: 2001
Major: Chemistry

Katie Wibby felt nothing but prepared to teach chemistry after her Alma College education.

“Having a chemistry degree was important because it made sure that I fully understood the chemistry that I would be teaching,” the 2001 graduate says. “My upper-level classes helped me to understand the theory behind the elementary chemistry concepts. I worked with a local chemistry teacher on my thesis project, and that helped me prepare for student teaching.”
