Graduate Profile: Aaron Weisberger

Aaron Weisberger was drawn to the biology major because of the opportunity to combine classroom learning with hands-on experiences.

“If I take anything out of my education it will be work ethic,” he says. “The Alma biology department is extremely challenging. I feel like I can tackle any task after my education here.”

Drawn here by the small class sizes and atmosphere of the school, he was captain of the Alma College lacrosse club team and a member of the Tau Kappa Epsilon fraternity.

“Alma is an amazing school,” he says. “You really feel like people care about you here. It allowed me to grow as a person. I am more driven and productive than I ever imagined I could be.”

Alma students can explore the environmental wonders of the Galapagos Islands, practice Spanish language skills, study Ecuadorian culture, complete coursework in business finance, and fulfill a South American internship in entrepreneurship through Alma College's one-of-a-kind partnership with Equatorialis University in Quito, Ecuador.

Biologist John Rowe’s laboratory resembles a turtle zoo.

Children’s wading pools converted into baby turtle habitats are arranged in rows in his darkened lab. Large curtains surround each pool, with lights, some brighter than others, directly overhead. Students maintain the lab, take measurements and analyze data pertaining to the scientific question: Does the intensity of light affect turtles and their shell coloring and growth rates?
