Student Profile: Kelsee Miles

For an athlete like Hanover junior Kelsee Miles, it wasn’t much of a stretch to major in athletic training.

Kelsee Miles

“I’ve always been involved in athletics, and I always want to be,” she says. “It’s like a puzzle—if someone has an injury, you have to do tests to figure out what’s wrong.”

Classes such as Integrated Physiology and Health Science 325: Orthopedic Assessment I have taught Miles the skills she needs to know for a professional career in athletic training. She hopes the challenge of an Alma College education will serve her well in graduate school.

Outside of the classroom, Miles plays volleyball. The team recently took a service-learning trip to Nicaragua, which proved to be an unforgettable experience for the setter.

“The trip helped me put into perspective what’s truly important in life,” she says. “It was such a great experience.”

Overall, Miles is getting a kick out of her Alma experience. While she acknowledges that it’s time consuming, she has her eye on more than the stopwatch.

“At Alma, you’re constantly interacting with people, so it’s easy to form close bonds,” she says. “The atmosphere is very welcoming, so it’s easy to network and make connections.”

Alma College is one of the first undergraduate colleges in the United States to belong to the International Criminal Court Student Network (ICCSN). Created in 2006 by students at the London School of Economics, the ICCSN aims to promote the work of the ICC and increase knowledge of international criminal law. Alma joins Duke University School of Law, the University of Cambridge and other institutions in a global community that connects students who share an interest in the ICC.
