Drew Johnson

Don’t fling that graduation cap too far from the stage! If you’re like alumna Drew Johnson, your tassels will take you back to your alma mater.

After earning her master’s degree in athletic training from East Stroudsburg University, she returned to Alma College, where she’s now the exercise and health science lab coordinator and assistant athletic trainer.

“Returning as a faculty member was definitely a transition,” says Johnson, who graduated in 2008. “Calling professors by their first names was a bit strange, and I had to get used to grading and teaching instead of studying. The learning curve wasn’t too steep, though.“

Her primary sport responsibilities are women’s soccer, men’s basketball and track and field. She also teaches clinical athletic education, CPR and first aid.

“I love interacting with students and teaching them good life skills,” says Johnson. “It’s rewarding watching them grow. I also am blessed to work with such cooperative, respectful, understanding coaches and athletes. I give it my all to get them healthy and ready to play!”

For five consecutive years, the Corporation for National and Community Service has named Alma College to the President's Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll for engaging students, faculty and staff in meaningful service. More than 85 percent of Alma's 2011 graduating class participated in academic service learning during their time at Alma College.
