Janae Culler has always been interested in science and chose to major in exercise and health science after hearing about the program’s reputation.

“The small class sizes and amazing professors in the EHS department provide an environment that makes you want to learn,” the Bay City junior says.

“The classes are tough and top-notch, they really challenge the students, she says. “The labs are very hands-on and give you the real life experiences that are so valuable.”

Culler plans to earn her doctorate in physical therapy after she graduates from Alma.

“The EHS program has allowed me to work closely with classmates and get to know the professors, and it has given me real life practical experience,” she says.

“The liberal arts program is very beneficial and has given me a well-rounded education. I think those things are very valuable and set Alma College apart from other colleges.”

Culler was attracted to Alma by the friendly atmosphere during an overnight stay. She is involved in Colleges Against Cancer, Relay for Life, and alternative spring breaks. She also is a lifeguard, the treasurer for the EHS honorary society and a Zeta Sigma Fraternity sister.

 

The Corporation for National and Community Service named Alma College to the President’s Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll With Distinction for exemplary service efforts and service to disadvantaged youth. The Honor Roll is the highest federal recognition a school can achieve for its commitment to service-learning and civic engagement.
