The Integrative Physiology and Health Science Department emphasizes a combination of strong science education with generous hands-on experiences in the areas of:

Career opportunities

Graduates of Alma’s Integrative Physiology and Health Science Program are prepared for employment in corporate or hospital settings, health and wellness intervention programs, athletic training and other health-related careers.

For physical education teaching, the Exercise and Health Science Program can be combined with the Secondary Teacher Education Program.

Many Integrative Physiology and Health Science graduates pursue graduate study in a variety of areas, including:

  • Exercise physiology
  • Medicine
  • Nutrition
  • Occupational therapy
  • Physical therapy
  • Public health
  • Health promotion

The pre-nursing concentration will prepare graduates for admission into nursing programs offering a one-year accelerated second degree program (BSN).

 

For five consecutive years, the Corporation for National and Community Service has named Alma College to the President's Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll for engaging students, faculty and staff in meaningful service. More than 85 percent of Alma's 2011 graduating class participated in academic service learning during their time at Alma College.

“I want to become a doctor, though I haven’t defined what field of medicine I want to pursue yet,” she says. “I like the challenge of solving people’s medical problems and figuring out how to help them feel better.”
