Safe House Training 2006

To prepare for MacCurdy's role as a temporary safe house on the Alma College campus, the residents must receive training at the start of each academic year.  Toni Davis, from Women's Aid Inc., provides a day of training in domestic/dating violence, crisis intervention, and local referrals.
Members of the Kappa Iota sorority also participate in the training and assist in staffing the house.

Cathy Millon

Cathy Millon
Graduation: 2009
Major: Sociology
Minor: Women’s Studies and Psychology

If Cathy Millon ’09 were a superhero, her power would be activism.

The Alma College alumna is an AmeriCorps*VISTA worker with the Girl Scouts of America in Colorado. She builds partnerships in the community, recruits volunteers and writes curricula for programs and events while interacting with young women.

“Our goal is to teach girls how to think, not what to think,” says Millon. “I love knowing I am helping to empower girls to fight against bullying, low self-esteem and unhealthy relationships.”
