Mike Sheldon

Staff Profile: Mike Sheldon

Mike Sheldon is the man to see when you need to use the Heritage Center.

My favorite part of working at Alma is the people.

As the building manager of the Heritage Center, Sheldon not only manages and oversees performances and activities in Presbyterian Hall, he also creates and maintains the building budget.

In addition, he teaches technical theatre classes such as stage combat and audition.

Sheldon earned his undergraduate degree at Northern Michigan University and his master’s degree at the University of Alabama.

He was working as a stage manager in Florida when a friend told him about the job at Alma. Eager to get back to Michigan, he took the opportunity.

“My favorite part of working at Alma is the people,” he says. “Plus, it’s fun and challenging to make the Heritage Center spaces multifunctional.”

Alma College’s sports teams have been known as the “Scots” since 1931 when Alma students voted on the name. Soon thereafter, “Scotty” emerged as Alma’s official mascot and is regularly seen on campus, in the community and at athletics events.
