Student Profile: Natividad Salgado
Michigan’s fall and winter weather might annoy some, but it brought Natividad Salgado to Alma from Miami. That, and the chance to study theatre.
“In the Theatre Program at Alma I have the opportunity to try all different aspects of theatre,” the junior says. “It’s very flexible — if you want to act and take a lighting design class, you are able to.”
Salgado hopes to earn her master’s degree in either directing or acting and possibly teach. She says the broad range of opportunities offered by the program is the best way to prepare for professional theatre.
“I have been able to participate in every show this year, whether it was on stage or behind the scenes,” she says, “which is something not many students in a performing arts program at any college can say.”
She also appreciates the small class sizes, which she says allow her professors to help her with individual problems or questions.
Salgado is involved in Habitat For Humanity, PRIDE and service learning.
