Scholarship Audition Information

Regardless of intended major or minor, talented students are encouraged to participate in the theatre program and audition for performance scholarships, which begin at $1,000 and may go up to full tuition.

The Theatre Department holds acting auditions and design/technical theatre interviews until the first week of March. For an acting audition, you would need to prepare two contrasting monologues not to exceed two minutes for each selection. For a design/technical theatre interview, you should bring either a portfolio of your work or a record of your theatre experience. These could include sketches, drawings, photos and programs. In addition, include two letters of recommendation from people familiar with your skill and experience.

In order to audition, dancers must be accepted to Alma College. To complete an application for admission, please visit http://www.alma.edu/admissions/apply

Graduate Profile

Brianna Johnson
Graduation: 2008
Major: Theatre and Dance

Brianna Johnson graduated a semester early and still designed the lighting for three shows and six one-act plays.

“In most programs you are lucky if you get a one-act play and a full show to design before you graduate,” the 2008 graduate says. “Alma’s Theatre Program helped me figure out what I wanted to do for a living, and I got tons of experience.”
