Programs

Major Requirements

  1. Thirty-six credits in Religious Studies including REL 103, 400 and 500 (senior thesis and oral examination).
  2. Remaining program of study will be constructed on an individual basis in consultation with members of the department.
  3. Foreign language study (either ancient or modern, depending on the student's academic interests) is strongly encouraged for all majors.

Minor Requirements

  1. Twenty-four credits in Religious Studies including REL 103 and 400.
  2. Remaining program of study will be constructed on an individual basis in consultation with members of the Department.

Four credits from REL, with the exception of practicum or independent study courses, count towards the Distributive Requirements in the Humanities.

 

Alma is one of seven Michigan colleges and universities to hold membership in the Omicron Delta Kappa Society, the national leadership society that recognizes and encourages superior scholarship, leadership and exemplary character. The College also has 19 other national departmental honor societies.

DeAnna Daniels wants to touch all seven continents during her lifetime.

The sophomore, a Religious Studies major and History minor, plans to be a missionary in India for four years after she graduates. After that, she wants to visit every continent as a missionary.
