“This line of study will help me be very knowledgeable in all aspects of religion so I can ensure that the future generation of students I have will be well-rounded people with an understanding of their religion and the religions of the world,” the Saginaw junior says.

Couture came to Alma after having attended Catholic schools, and says he appreciated the opportunity to learn about religion along with his other coursework.

“Religion is something I take very seriously and was always one of my best courses,” he says. “The religious studies program has allowed me to still keep in touch with my faith and gain more and more knowledge about it.”

Couture plans to teach religion and English at a high school level, and would like to continue his love of football by coaching at the high school level.

Couture is a member of the Alma Scots football team.

Alma College alumnus Josh Brehm was the 2006 recipient of the Gagliardi Trophy, given annually to the best NCAA football player in Division III. The Gagliardi Trophy recognizes excellence in academics, athletics and community service.
