Teaching Assistant Profile: Sarah Schlindwein
After graduating from high school in Germany, Sarah Schlindwein spent nine months as a Bible school student in Canada, where she deepened her personal faith and got to know a new cultural setting.

Upon returning to Germany from her year abroad, Schlindwein was unsure which career she should pursue. She decided to complete an internship at her former school.
“During this time, my passion for working with children and adolescents was reaffirmed, so I decided to pursue a teaching career,” she says. “I’m really looking forward to my time here at Alma College and I’m excited to teach students both the German language and culture.”
The German teaching assistant comes to Alma from the University of Heidelberg, where she studies English and Classical Latin. She hopes to become a high school teacher.
In order to received the “Erstes Staatsexamen,” which will qualify her to teach at a German school, Schlindwein, who has finished the first part of her studies, will continue her studies for two more years once she returns from Alma.
Outside of the classroom, Schlindwein enjoys reading a good book, swimming or playing badminton. During vacations, she likes to travel to Australia, Thailand or European countries. She also enjoys snowboarding in winter.
