Graduate Profile: Jason Paradowski
Jason Paradowski began his Alma career interested in biology but was drawn into communication through Alma’s liberal arts education.
“A broad interest in training and development led to my interest in interpersonal and organizational communication after a couple of years exploring the sciences,” the 1994 graduate says. “The grounding in critical thinking and problem solving that a broad liberal arts degree can provide has been instrumental in continuing my personal and professional development.”
Paradowski is the human resources manager for the Robert Bosch Corporation and is pursuing an MBA from the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor.
“The grounding in critical thinking and problem solving that a broad liberal arts degree can provide has been instrumental in continuing my personal and professional development. ”
He was attracted to Alma by its academic reputation and the welcoming campus.
“I’d faced the ‘classic’ big school vs. small school decision and looking back, I couldn’t have made a better choice,” he says. “The opportunity to explore multiple career paths as I discovered my talents and interests would have been much more difficult at a larger institution.”
“I had the first-hand opportunity to lead and run student organizations and had partnerships with faculty to prepare and jointly publish academic papers. Close contact with professors and staff had a big impact on my personal development,” he says.
While at Alma, Paradowski developed a comprehensive program for mentoring first-year students with Stephanie Hirchert (‘93) and presented the results in an academic journal and at College Student Development conferences. He was co-founder of the Lambda Pi Eta Communication Society, a member of the Swim Team and interned at the Philadelphia Center.
