Alumni Profile: Maricat Eggenberger

Maricat Eggenberger ’11

After graduating from Alma College in 2011, Maricat Eggenberger was prepared to go anywhere. After all, her Alma adventures had taken her around the globe!

“Alma made it very easy to have experiences that my friends at other schools would have loved to have had,” she says. “Through awesome opportunities such as the Philadelphia Center, P-Global and Spring Term, I was able to travel and learn off campus.”

While at Alma, Eggenberger, a business administration and communication double major, also was active on campus. In addition to being a resident assistant, she participated in Phi Sigma Sigma, Students in Free Enterprise, the Center for Responsible Leadership and the swimming and diving team.

“My Alma experience not only fueled my addiction to travel, it taught me how to multi-task to the extreme and challenge myself,” she says. “I also met a lot of people who are still my close friends today.”

Where is Eggenberger today? She’s in Michigan, where she is the event manager at Ann Arbor SPARK, a non-profit economic development organization.

“I work with community members and other entrepreneurial support organizations to create events for local entrepreneurs,” she says. “I also create events that introduce outside companies to the great businesses and quality-of-life benefits of the Ann Arbor area.”

It’s a good fit for Eggenberger, who says that as she works on different events, she relishes the opportunity to learn about up-and-coming companies.

“Every day I am able to help tell success stories not only in the Ann Arbor area but in Michigan,” she says. “What’s challenging is choosing which programs and events to be involved in. There is only so much time in the day!”

Frank Knox’s accomplishments are extraordinary: From fighting alongside Teddy Roosevelt and the Rough Riders and publishing the Chicago Daily News vice presidential candidate in 1936 to Secretary of the Navy under Franklin D. Roosevelt. Through it all, the 1912 graduate stayed true to his Alma College roots. His portrait adorns the conference room in the Reid-Knox Administration Building.
