Cognitive Science

Cognitive Science is an interdisciplinary approach to the study of the mind. Its constituent fields are Computer Science, Psychology, Philosophy, Neuroscience and Linguistics. The Cognitive Science Group consists of faculty representatives from the constituent disciplines. Students pursuing work in this area will find Alma's program appropriate preparation for specialization in either interdisciplinary study or a constituent field.

Beth Knapp-Reed
Graduation: 1998
Major: Chemistry

Beth Knapp-Reed’s Alma College education allowed her to begin performing undergraduate research in chemistry as a sophomore and present the research at two national American Chemical Society meetings.

In addition, she had three summer internships with pharmaceutical companies. Continuing her education at the University of Michigan, she was a post-doctoral fellow at Wayne Sate University and the University of Michigan.
