Pathways to a Chemistry Major

Our program’s quality and completeness is certified by the American Chemical Society for the training of professional chemists.

The following schedules are intended to give a representative idea of a plan of study. The actual timing of this course work would depend on each individual’s plan and needs and should be discussed with an academic advisor. For course descriptions see our Requirements & Courses page.

Common Pathway to a Chemistry Major with an emphasis on Premedicine

Rather than recommend specific course work, the Association of American Medical Colleges recommends students focus on specific competencies in preparation for modern MCAT exams. In addition to Introduction to Psychology (PSY 121), Principles of Sociology (SOA 101), Elementary Statistics (MTH 116) and Microbiology (BIO 308), we recommend the following outline of courses that should best prepare students to take the MCAT exam after their third year.
