Study in Mexico

Morelia, Mexico

What can I study?

In Morelia you can study subjects such as Spanish language, Mexican culture, history, and U.S.-Mexico Relations at the Universidad Latina de América (UNLA), a small liberal arts school of about 1,500 students. All courses are taught in English except Spanish language courses.

Internships, an English education practicum and direct enrollment in the UNLA are also available to select students. The Morelia program also offers excursions that are included in the normal program fees so that Mexico becomes your classroom. Previous destinations have included Mexico City, Guanajuanto, Teotihuacan, Uruapan, and the Paricutin Volcano.

Why Morelia?

The city of Morelia, located in the Guayangareo Valley and surrounded by the Punhuato and Quinceo Hills, is home to nearly 600,000 people. Explore the churches and shops that line the streets of the historic downtown, designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1991. Immerse yourself in Mexican language and culture as you mix with students and locals at theaters, art galleries and sporting events.

What are the requirements?

  • 2.50 GPA
  • Previous study of the Spanish language is not required but is highly recommended

Where will I live?

You will have the chance to experience Mexican culture by living with a host family who will provide you meals, located within an easy commuting distance to classes.
