Austrian night

What can I study?

Looking for a chance to study German while earning credits in other areas? In Austria, you can take a beginner’s German class while taking political science, history, psychology, art, music, and communication classes in English.

Why Vienna?

Located in northeast Austria, Vienna has a population of nearly two million people and is filled with historic buildings and monuments. Vienna has been the home to famed geniuses such as Beethoven, Mozart, Kafka, and Freud. Its central location in Europe means that major cities like Prague, Budapest and Rome are only a short train ride away. The school is near the city center, within walking distance of many city buildings and public transportation.

What are the requirements?

  • 2.50 GPA
  • Sophomore status
  • No previous German language study is required

Where will I live?

You’ll get the chance to truly experience the Austrian culture by living with a host family, who will provide you with a light breakfast daily. You are responsible for your own lunches and dinners.

How much will it cost?

You will pay published Alma College tuition, fees, room and board. Since full board is not provided, Alma College will adjust the fees accordingly.

Alma’s close faculty-student interaction provides numerous benefits such as the ability to do undergraduate research on a graduate level. Alma’s professors treat students more as peers welcoming student input and collaboration on faculty projects. When students are involved in research, faculty aggressively pursue publication of findings including students as co-authors.
