Study in Australia

What can I study?
Looking for a study aboard option that will let you take classes in your major? The University of Wollongong in Australia is a great option. You can take 12-18 credits in a semester, depending on the program. The normal semester class load at Wollongong is about 24 points, which transfers to about 16 Alma credits. Once you pick your classes, you’ll have to fill out a form before you leave to get approval to transfer your credits.

Why Wollongong?
With a population of 300,000, the city of Wollongong is a large commercial, retail and industrial center about an hour and a half south of Sydney. From shopping to performing arts, a major art museum, to sporting facilities, you can find a match for any interest. The ethnic diversity in Wollongong means there’s a wide range of food choices, and the coastal location gives you access to beautiful beaches and natural bush land.
The University’s main campus is near the city center, covers 204 acres and has 94 permanent buildings, including six student residences. State-of-the-art facilities include an extensive library collection, an interactive Science Center, Conservatorium of Music and a recently expanded sporting and recreation complex.

What are the requirements?
- Sophomore status and above
- 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale
- Final admission is contingent upon acceptance to the University of Wollongong as a visiting student.
Where will I live?
You have different options for housing, depending on your preferences. University residences are one option, and may or may not include meal plans. Other options include homestays or renting an apartment for yourself or with other students.
How much will it cost?
You will pay published Alma College tuition, fees, room and board. If board is not provided, Alma College will adjust the fees accordingly.

What do I need?
A passport is required for study abroad and must be valid at least 180 days beyond the last date of the program.
A student visa is required for entry into Australia. An application and instructions will be included in the acceptance packet.
How do I sign up?
To begin the application process, visit the Academic and Career Planning Office (basement of the library). All applications are submitted to each program through the ACP Office on the student’s behalf.
