Presidential Honors Program

Scholars. Collaborators. Leaders.

The Presidential Honors Program at Alma College is an intellectual community centered on collaborative research and a conscious commitment to the liberal arts.

Sounds like an ambitious program, doesn’t it? It is, but it’s also a great way to connect with other strong students who love learning. Any student interested in the honors program is encouraged to apply.

Choosing to do more.

Honors students participate in special seminar opportunities and faculty-guided research projects that fit and enhance their majors and interests. Special trips and discussion groups build the sense of community among participating students as they encourage each other in their intellectual growth.

You may also choose to pursue departmental honors or membership in Phi Beta Kappa, the nation’s preeminent honor society.

Program goals

In addition to academic excellence and a more thorough understanding of the liberal arts, the Alma College Presidential Honors Program’s primary goals include stewardship, citizenship and leadership. Honors scholars are encouraged to immerse themselves in campus and community service and act as role models for their student peers.

Each fall, the group travels to Chicago to take advantage of the city’s cultural activities, hang out with good friends, and enjoy great food and shopping.
