P-Global Fellowship: Information for Students
Objective
To cultivate the next generation of global leaders by promoting innovative experiential and research opportunities anywhere in the world.
Fellowship Program
Students selected as Posey Global Leadership Fellows will receive a Posey Fellowship that supports internships, independent research projects, and participation in colloquia, seminars, conferences, and training opportunities that foster engagement with transboundary issues and provide an appreciation of the possibilities and obstacles to effective leadership in an international context. The fellowships will be awarded to Alma College students to support global study or work related to global issues. This does not include for-profit internships.
Selection Criteria
Merit of proposal:
Extent to which activity would broaden and deepen understanding of a specific transboundary issue or organization.
Extent to which activity would provide “hands-on” opportunities to apply prior knowledge and experience in a transboundary context.
Extent to which activity would promote the development of leadership skills in a global context (i.e. through cultivating a nuanced understanding of issues, considering possible means of addressing those issues, and confronting real world obstacles to translating well meaning and well considered proposals into effective solutions.)
Qualifications of student:
- traditional course preparation
- prior experiential opportunities
- leadership interest and experience
- academic record
- evidence of ability to work independently
Financial need:
- a student’s award will be impacted by an evaluation of their financial resources, as determined by an assessment of information from the financial aid office and other pertinent material, as well as by consideration of a project’s cost.
Ability to make a unique contribution to the program.
Student Award
Awards can support travel, program fees, living expenses and other relevant costs.
Responsibilities
P-GLOBAL Fellows agree to disseminate their experiences to the wider campus community (i.e. through presentations before Student Congress, articles in the Almanian, open forums for students and/or faculty)
P-GLOBAL Fellows agree to provide those details concerning internships, independent research contacts, conferences, colloquia and seminars necessary to develop a campus-wide database that other students may utilize.
