Photo of the Facilities and Service ManagementLocated on Wright Avenue on the east side of campus, the Facilities and Service Management building houses maintenance shops and offices for the director and members of the staff.

The building provides facilities for supply storage and freight receiving and shipping.

Built in 1918, the building was purchased by the College in 1974 from Mr. and Mrs. Harold Trower.

 

The Alma College softball team has qualified for the NCAA Tournament 17 times in the last 19 years—a dynasty that ranks among the best in NCAA Division III athletics. The Scots boast a 735-254 overall record during head coach Denny Griffin’s 24-year tenure at Alma.

Biologist John Rowe’s laboratory resembles a turtle zoo.

Children’s wading pools converted into baby turtle habitats are arranged in rows in his darkened lab. Large curtains surround each pool, with lights, some brighter than others, directly overhead. Students maintain the lab, take measurements and analyze data pertaining to the scientific question: Does the intensity of light affect turtles and their shell coloring and growth rates?
