The house serves as a gathering place for the Alpha Gamma Delta sorority and as housing for eight members.
The group was established as a local sorority, Delta Phi Omega, on April 6, 1983. It was established as a chapter of the national fraternity, Alpha Gamma Delta, on Feb. 2, 1985.
Alma offers 10 social Greek organizations: five fraternities and five sororities.
Colleges of Distinction, a national college guide for students, parents and counselors, identifies Alma College as "one of the best places to learn, grow and succeed." While she may not have psychic abilities, Lauren Jo Sypniewski didn’t need a fortune teller’s clairvoyance to know she was going to study English at Alma College. The 2010 alumna’s enthusiasm for literature and writing made a college crystal ball unnecessary.
“I never thad that ‘major unknown’ phase that many freshmen and even sophomores go through,” she says. “I’ve always been passionate about books and writing, and I like the adventure of searching for the human aspect in my own writing.”
