What meal plans are available?

Because we understand that students need flexible meal plans to accommodate their busy schedules, we offer three meal plan options. These plans come with Munch Money, which is used in place of cash for those times when you may have to miss a scheduled meal. Munch Money can be used at any Sodexho location. We also offer Meal Advantage in Joe's for those students who cannot make it to a meal in the Commons.

14 Meal Plan: Enjoy any 14 meals of your choice per week, plus $165 in Munch Money for the semester.

19 Meal Plan: Enjoy any 19 meals of your choice per week, plus $100 in Munch Money for the semester.

160 Block Plan: Enjoy any 160 meals of your choice during the semester, plus $130 in Munch Money. This plan will also allow you to feed guests with your meal plan. Students on this meal plan can buy more blocks of 10 meals at a reduced price from the Business Office.

10 Meal Plan: This plan is for students with a kitchen. It allows you to enjoy any 10 meals of your choice per week, plus $200 in Munch Money for the semester.

How can I find out what's on the menu?

Menus for all meals are located on this website.

Do I always need to carry my ID card?

Your I.D. card identifies you as a holder of a meal plan, which is valuable and should be treated as cash. Your I.D. card must be presented to prevent unauthorized persons from using dining services for which you paid. If any resident allows their I.D. to be used by another student, Sodexho through the Student Affairs Office will take disciplinary action.

What if I lose my ID card?

If you lose your I.D. card you must purchase a new card for $75.00. This charge will be added to your account with Alma College.

What if I have to miss a scheduled meal?

Because we understand that students' schedules are busy, we offer MEAL ADVANTAGE. If your class or work schedule does not allow you to make scheduled meal hours, you may receive a meal exchange at Joe's Snack Bar Monday through Friday from 1:45-3:30 PM for lunch; Monday through Thursday 7:00-8:00 PM for dinner; Friday 6:30-7:30 PM for dinner; Saturday and Sunday from 1:00-2:00 PM. A second option is to request a sack meal by filling out a slip at the checker's stand at Hamilton Commons 24 hours in advance.

What is Munch Money?

Munch Money is for those times when you may have to miss a meal. You receive $165 of Munch Money on the 14-meal plan, $100 on the 19-meal plan, $130 on the block plan, and $200 on the 10-meal plan. This money can be used at any Sodexho location: Joe's Snack Bar, Hamilton Commons, Van Dusen and the Faculty Dining Room, instead of cash. Munch Money received with a meal plan does not carry over from semester to semester. You will receive up to $15 of Munch Money for May term, depending on how long you are on campus.

What if I run out of Munch Money?

Munch Money may be purchased at the Sodexho Main Office located in the basement of Hamilton Commons. An Advantage to buying Munch Money is that you will receive 10% more Munch Money free.

May I take food or drinks from the commons?

Our dining halls are all-you-can-eat facilities, and you may not take food or drinks with you. We are happy to serve you on an unlimited basis during the hours of operation.

What if I need a special diet?

We are happy to assist you in any dietary needs you have. If our dining selections cannot satisfy your nutritional needs, we will attempt to meet your needs after you receive a medical authorization slip from the Wilcox Medical Center.

May I have a guest at meals?

If you wish to have a guest(s) eat with you, you may pay for them using your Munch Money, a meal from your Block Plan, or pay cash at the door.

What is a board exchange?

A board exchange is an opportunity for organized student groups to take food off campus for picnics or retreats in exchange for their normal boarding meal. Please contact a Sodexho Manager four days in advance of your event to ensure that everything you need is available.

Are there jobs available with Sodexho on campus?

The dining service provides jobs to students throughout the year to help pay bills or get some extra spending money. We will attempt to work around your schedule and be flexible. If you are interested, see a Sodexho Manager.

Can I submit a suggestion or comment?

Suggestions and comments are always welcome! Comment cards are available in each dining facility for you to fill in any suggestions or comments you may have. Also, a dining committee meets once a month to ensure students' needs are being heard and met. If you are interested in becoming a member of this committee, please contact a Sodexho Manager.
