Overnight Parking on City Streets

The City of Alma allows overnight parking on City side streets from April 1 to October 31.  From Novermber 1 to March 31 all overnight parking on City streets is banned.  If you want to park on a City street overnight, be sure to check posted signs along each street because not all streets allow overnight parking when school is in session

Parking Enforcement

Security and designated personnel will monitor and enforce parking regulations. Due to the limited number of parking spaces, it is important that students,  faculty and staff park only in areas that they have permits for and in designated spaces. Fire lanes must be maintained to provide access for emergency vehicles.

Tickets

  • Vehicles without the proper permits displayed in the specified location will be ticketed.
  • Vehicles parked in reserved areas, fire lanes, on the lawn or in areas other than their permits allow, will be ticketed.
  • Ticket fines are $20.00. Tickets need to be paid before the end of the term as any unpaid ticket amount will go on the student's account.

Vehicle Towing

  • Vehicles that are parked illegally and have received 3 or more parking violations will be ticketed and towed at the owner's expense.
  • Vehicles that do not have the required parking permit will be ticketed and towed at the owner's expense.
  • Vehicles that are blocking fire lanes, parked in reserved spaces or on the lawn will be ticketed and towed at the owner's expense.

Handicap Parking Policy

Any vehicle in a designated handicap parking space on the Alma College campus must display a permanent handicap plate or current temporary State of Michigan Handicap Parking Permit hang tag.  Any vehicle parked in one of these reserved spaces without the appropriate State of Michigan Handicap permit will be ticketed and towed.

Alma’s off-campus study programs do more than place students in exciting locales to meet interesting people; they also create new opportunities for personal growth and skill development. One of the best ways to learn about other societies and cultures is to study and travel in international settings. You do not always have to know a foreign language.
