Assistant Professor of Theatre and DanceThe Alma College Department of Theatre and Dance seeks applicants for a tenure-track faculty appointment incorporating student instruction, scene design, and technical direction, to begin August 2014. Production responsibilities include designing scenery or supervising student designers for four theatre productions each year in addition to supervising the scene shop. Teaching responsibilities include production related lab courses and design courses, theatre history, computer aided design, courses in our First Year Seminar Program, as well as courses within the successful candidate’s areas of expertise. Duties also include mentoring students, serving on department and college committees, participating in student recruitment and advising of students. An MFA in design/technology with professional and/or academic experience is required. Candidates must demonstrate experience and skills in scene design as well as technical abilities. The ability to design lights and sound in addition to scenery is an added consideration. Experience in classroom instruction is preferred. Review of applications will begin December 1, 2013.
