Visiting Assistant Professor of Theatre and DanceVISITING ASSISTANT PROFESSOR/MODERN OR CONTEMPORARY DANCE FACULTY – The Alma College Department of Theatre and Dance seeks applicants for visiting assistant professor for a one- or two-year appointment incorporating student instruction, choreography and dance theory, to begin August 2014. Responsibilities include teaching intermediate and advanced modern or contemporary technique classes, dance history and choreographing for fall and winter productions. Duties also include mentoring students and participating in student recruitment and advising. An MFA in dance and college-level teaching experience is required. Candidates should have ability to teach in two of the following areas: beginning ballet, modern or contemporary; intermediate and advanced modern/contemporary; pilates, yoga or other conditioning theory; world/folk dance; dance technology; dance pedagogy; dance history; or music analysis. Candidates must also demonstrate expertise in performance and choreography. Professional dance experience, particularly with a nationally or internationally recognized company, is strongly preferred.
