Assistant Athletic Trainer
Alma College seeks applicants for an Assistant Athletic Trainer, which is a full-time, 12-month, (1 year wtih option to renew for a 2nd year) fixed term appointment.
Primary responsibilities include: Providing injury prevention, recognition, evaluation, appropriate medical referral, treatment, and rehabilitation for student-athletes (male and female) within a NCAA Division III athletic department. Sports coverage will take place during fall, winter and spring sports seasons. Individual sports coverage assignments will depend on individual’s experience as well as what best meets the needs of the athletic training staff. Additional responsibilities include accurate maintenance of student athlete medical records, Preceptor, and direct supervision of the athletic training students in the CAATE Accredited Athletic Training Education Program. Provide practice and game coverage, travel with athletic teams, and assist head athletic trainer with daily athletic training room operations. Must maintain correspondence and cooperation with team physicians, health care professionals, athletic training and athletic department staff. Hours may vary and applicants must be willing to work nights and weekends. This position will report to the Head Athletic Trainer, Athletic Director and is expected to adhere to CAATE, NCAA and MIAA rules and regulations as well as the policies and procedures set forth by the Alma College Athletic Training Education Program and Athletic Department. Additional administrative duties may be assigned by the head athletic trainer and athletic director.
Required Qualifications: Master’s degree in athletic training or related field, BOC certification, current First Aid/CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer, current/eligible for Michigan licensure. Experience in a residential campus environment is strongly preferred. Additional traits desired include strong interpersonal skills, knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations, and an understanding of the Division III student-athlete philosophy. Ideal candidates should be able to demonstrate an understanding of the nature and goals of a liberal arts college and have the ability to work within an academic setting with a commitment to student development.
