Visiting Instructor/Assistant Professor of Mathematics

The Alma College Department of Mathematics invites applications for a one –year Visiting Instructor/Assistant Professor position, for the 2013-14 academic year.

Applicants must have an earned PhD in the mathematical sciences by August 31, 2013 to be considered for the Assistant Professor rank; applicants with a completed Master’s or A.B.D. status may be considered for the Instructor rank. Candidates should enjoy teaching a wide variety of undergraduate courses and be committed to excellence in teaching.

Review of applications will begin on February, 22, 2013; the position is contingent upon final budgetary approval. Email submissions are strongly encouraged and should include the following: a letter of interest, graduate transcript (unofficial copy accepted), curriculum vitae, a statement about teaching in an undergraduate liberal arts environment, and three letters of recommendation (references may be sent separately by hard copy). Dr. Jeff Turk
Departments: Chemistry

Dr. Jeff Turk’s parents sealed his fate when they bought him a chemistry set at age nine. The last three weeks of his high school AP Chemistry class sparked his interest in organic chemistry.

The assistant professor of chemistry joined Alma faculty in 2006 after earning his undergraduate degree at Cleveland State University and his masters and doctoral degrees at the University of Cincinnati.
