Assistant Professor of Biology
The Biology Department at Alma College invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor of Biology, with specialization in botany. We seek an individual with demonstrated skills in, and a commitment to, undergraduate teaching and research. Duties will begin in August 2013.
The ideal candidate will have the ability to 1) inspire undergraduate student success through instruction in classroom, laboratory, and field environments, and 2) maintain a thriving plant biology research program in a liberal arts college environment. Normal teaching load is six units per academic year. Teaching responsibilities will include classroom and laboratory work in organismal biology, introductory botany, First Year Seminars, upper-level major elections, and a newly developed Senior Capstone experience. Interdepartmental collaborations are expected.
A Ph.D. is required for this appointment. Review of applications will begin November 15, 2012.
