Admissions Representative/Assistant Director

Position Summary: Alma College is seeking an admissions professional. Salary and title are dependent upon experience and qualifications. This position reports to the Director of Admissions and coordinates recruitment activities and programming for a specified territory. This professional role works on the development, implementation and evaluation of comprehensive student recruitment plans and serves as a resource for the campus. The individual hired will join a successful Admissions team which has recently recruited five of the largest classes in the history of the College.

Duties Include: Interview and counsel future students and their parents on College admission requirements and the overall college choice process. Represent and promote the College to external constituencies and participate in on- and off-campus Admissions activities, including a specific recruitment territory. Provide oversight and direction for specialized admission area and/or program. Position requires significant travel during the fall as well as some night and weekend work. Work will also include targeted communication, telecounseling and participation in admission-related campus events.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Strong communication skills (interpersonal and written)
  • Ability to connect and build relationships with prospective students and families
  • A valid driver’s license and a good driving record
  • Self-motivation
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Positive attitude

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A minimum of one year of admissions or other professional experience

In the more than 125 years since its founding, Alma College has stayed true to its roots by keeping its Scottish heritage alive. Today, Alma features a marching band clad in kilts, a Scottish dance troupe, a competitive pipe band and its own tartan. The 2010 graduate, who teaches English through a Fulbright Scholarship, says the skills she learned as an undergraduate while working as a teaching assistant in the Spanish labs have helped her immensely.
