Wholesale Book Specialist--College Corner Bookstore

Position Summary: This position coordinates activities of the textbook department of the bookstore.

Supervision Received/Supervision Exercised: This position reports to the Manager of the College Corner Bookstore.

Essential Functions:

  • Gathers textbook information from instructors.
  • Enters book orders.
  • Maintains textbook and trade inventory and department.
  • Processes inbound and outbound shipments.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Prior college bookstore experience.
  • Experience using Nebraska Book Company’s PRISM system.
  • Strong knowledge of the textbook department process.
  • Available to work nights, weekends and during crucial peak business times.
  • Detail oriented, organized, strong customer service and communication skills.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to move about the bookstore.
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds.
  • Ability to operate ordering system and other computer equipment.

Wright Hall, Alma’s “green” residence hall, is a modern, 60-bed apartment-style hall that features a number of environmentally friendly features, including geothermal heating and cooling, recycled-content ceiling tiles and carpeting, energy-efficient windows, rooftop solar heating panels, energy-efficient showers and washing machines, and a computerized energy monitoring system.

Jacob Poliskey’s experience at Alma College has helped him cross a few adventurous items off his bucket list, including immersing himself in another culture thanks to a Spring Term trip to Peru.

“I got to see Machu Picchu, explore the Incan Ruins in the outside of Cusco, learn more Spanish, and climb an 80-foot rock edifice,” he says. “I also became really good friends with a few people I didn’t know well before the trip.”
