Visiting Instructor of Education

The Alma College Education department invites applications for a full-time, one-year visiting instructor in Education beginning August 2011.  Candidates should be committed to undergraduate liberal arts education and enjoy teaching a broad range of courses.  Ability to teach elementary math education courses is preferred with additional teaching responsibilities from among the following: educational psychology, growth and development, children's literature, and early childhood courses.

Ph.D. or Ed.D. is preferred, MA or MS in Education plus teaching experience will be considered.  Teaching experience at the P-12 level is strongly preferred.  Preference also given to candidates with experience in undergraduate teaching.

Rev. Melissa Lynn DeRosia (Van Wert) credits Alma’s Religious Studies program with allowing her to explore a variety of religions and ideas about religion.

“I valued a great deal the time I spent learning and studying Buddism, Hinduism, Islam and other ways of living out faith including feminist theology,” the 2001 alumnus says.
