Director of Admissions
Alma College is seeking a highly motivated, student-centered individual for the position of Director of Admissions. This position reports to the Vice President for Enrollment and supervises an achieving, energetic staff of administrators, support staff and student assistants.

Responsibilities for the Director of Admissions include meeting and exceeding enrollment goals by leading collaboratively within the Admissions and Financial Aid departments as well as utilizing significant campus and off-campus connections to demonstrate the Alma difference for prospective students. A positive attitude and real enjoyment of the challenge of working toward positive outcomes for the admissions team and the College are essential.
Preferred qualifications include: master’s degree and five years of progressively broad-based supervisory experience in admissions or enrollment services. Other important attributes include the ability to:
- Effectively lead and motivate staff and to manage a significant budget;
- Understand, anticipate and embrace best practices in admissions and recruitment;
- Hire, train, monitor and motivate the admissions team;
- Envision and implement a comprehensive admissions program;
- Utilize and develop enrollment services technology;
- Analyze data and assess results of unit initiatives;
- Understand and implement financial aid strategies in enrollment services;
- Develop and implement effective marketing techniques and message management;
- Communicate effectively in interpersonal, intercultural and written form;
- Make excellent use of time management, organization, prioritization and presentation skills;
- Work collegially with students, staff and faculty in small and large group settings;
- Demonstrate a high performance leadership style, strong customer focus and excellent listening skills,
- Understand and maximize accountability for bottom line results;
- Periodically work a flexible schedule;
- Make independent professional judgments with integrity.
