Academic Support and Disability Services Coordinator

The Alma College Academic and Career Planning office invites applications for a full time, 12 month Academic Support and Disability Services Coordinator. Primary responsibilities include the development and implementation of academic support programming to assist students to successfully transition through Alma College.

Specific duties:

  • Work closely with students on academic jeopardy and probation to develop success strategies including one-on-one and small group counseling
  • Provide student disability services and coordinate accommodations with faculty
  • Oversee all aspects of the peer tutoring program
  • Serve as a liaison to the English department in coordination of the peer writing center
  • Assist with the implementation of a mentoring program
  • Coordinate with other ACP office staff to assist students with the career exploration and development process
  • Develop and maintain internship opportunities

Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in education, or a related field, plus two years experience in teaching, higher education administration, counseling, or disability services. Master’s degree is preferred. Must be able to communicate effectively with students, faculty, staff and the general community, be proficient in Microsoft Office applications, and have excellent organizational and analytical skills. Experience with adaptive learning technology such as Read and Write Gold, Kurzweil, Smart Pen, Zoom Text, JAWS, or Dragon Naturally Speaking is preferred.

A Truman Scholarship finalist and Center for Responsible Leadership Fellow, Drew has traveled to South Africa and China studying the HIV/AIDS crisis. The Bay City native intends to use his French minor and POE in International Health to improve AIDS care in Africa, hopefully as a physician with a global public health organization.
