Financial Aid Advisor
Alma College is seeking a 12-month full-time financial aid professional. Salary and title are dependent upon experience and qualifications. This position reports to the Director of Student Financial Assistance.
Responsibilities
The individual will serve as an advocate to both students and parents regarding financial aid issues and concerns. Additional duties:
- Provide phone and appointment coverage during office hours.
- Represent office at college admissions events and high school financial aid programs, which will require some early evening and weekend hours.
- Assist in the process of determining student eligibility for financial aid and review student files in regards to aid appeals and special circumstances.
- Assist with one or more major components of processing financial aid, e.g., Pell Grants, ACG/SMART, TEACH Grant, Academic Scholarships, State Grant/Scholarship programs, Student Loan Programs, Student Employment, etc.
Qualifications
A Successful Candidate will have the minimum qualifications of:
- Bachelor’s degree
- Ability to relate well to parents and students
- Strong customer service skills and experience
- Excellent interpersonal communication skill
- One to two years financial aid or related experience in student affairs preferred
