Primary On-call Bus Driver (Revised)

Applications are now being accepted for a primary on-call bus driver. The primary on- call bus driver is responsible for the safe operation of the College bus and other college-owned vehicles while transporting students, faculty and staff. This position will require occasional overnight travel both in and out of state.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Perform pre-trip inspection of the vehicle to be driven.
  2. Perform post-trip inspection of the vehicle that was driven.
  3. Complete driver’s log and trip sheet. Notify Physical Plant personnel of any safety deficiencies.
  4. Clean the bus inside and out after trips.
  5. Dump the holding tank at an approved sanitation/dumping location.
  6. Refuel the bus after each trip.

Minimum Qualifications — Must hold high school diploma or equivalent (GED). Will possess a valid commercial driver license, including both passenger and air brake endorsements. Will have a minimum of three years of commercial driving experience with at least two years of driving a passenger bus. A safe driving record is mandatory. Must be able to understand written and verbal communication and have legible handwriting. Must be flexible with scheduling and able to work extended periods of time, within legal driving limits of operation as specified by the DOT.

Physical Requirements — Must be able to pass a DOT physical. Must submit to random drug testing by the DOT. Failure to pass any DOT physical or drug test will be cause for immediate suspension without pay, and possible termination of employment. The College will cover the cost of all drug testing and DOT physical exams during your employment but will only do so if such examinations/tests are performed at the direction of the College.
