Payroll Clerk II

Summary

This position will be responsible for the process of all aspects of payroll for the College.

Supervision Received

This position will work with and under the supervision of the Controller/Director of Business Services.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Record and input employee pay information (contract amounts, wages, deductions, etc….).
  • Preparation and distribution of payroll checks and direct deposit vouchers.
  • Calculate and input staff and student payroll information.
  • Preparation of all retirement and pension information and payments.
  • Preparation of all Federal and State tax payments.
  • Preparation of yearly W2 forms.
  • Maintain employee tax information.
  • Maintain leave time records.
  • Assist with annual audit.

Required Qualifications

  • 3 years experience with automated payroll systems.
  • Accurate math skills.
  • Proficient data entry.
  • Confidentiality.
  • A strong working knowledge of Excel, Microsoft Word.
  • Excellent organizational skills and an attention to detail.
  • Ability to work within strict deadlines.

  • Interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of general office procedures.
  • Ability to understand and apply policies and procedures.
  • General knowledge of Access and Outlook.
  • General knowledge of Human Resources practices and/or employment laws.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to sit at a desk for the majority of the work day.
  • Ability to use a computer the majority of the work day.

The above duties and responsibilities are meant to be illustrative and will include other duties as assigned.

The pay range is $8.55 - $10.05 per hour, depending on experience and other qualifications.
