Head Coach of Men's Basketball

Responsibilities

The head coach manages and administers all aspects of a NCAA Division III men’s basketball program. These duties require that the individual:

  • Recruit academically qualified student-athletes
  • Create and develop schedules
  • Ensure compliance with institutional and NCAA rules
  • Enforce Intercollegiate Athletics Department rules and regulations
  • Participate in student development initiatives of the Intercollegiate Athletics Department
  • Hire and supervise assistant coaching staff
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics

He or she may also have teaching responsibilities in the core curriculum of the physical education minor and activity program.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree. Three years of coaching and teaching experience, college preferred.

Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

The successful head coach must also:

  • Know the rules and regulations of NCAA Division III men’s basketball
  • Identify and attract outstanding students to the College
  • Demonstrate skills in problem-solving, organization, and written and oral communications
  • Possess a record of leadership
  • Understand the Division III philosophy
  • Recognize the role of physical education and athletics within a private, liberal arts college

Appointment

Full-time, 11-month administrative position.

Compensation

Competitive salary and benefits commensurate with the qualifications and experience of the applicant. Benefit package includes a tuition remission program for dependents.
