Director of Clinical Instruction/Instructor of Athletic Training

This full time 12-month administrative position includes responsibilities as Director of Clinical Instruction and Instructor of Athletic Training.

Duties will include coverage for men's and women's cross country, women's volleyball, men's and women's swimming, and men's basketball; assisting the Head Athletic Trainer with the day-to-day activities in the training room; aiding in prevention, management, evaluation and rehabilitation of athletic injuries; assisting with game preparation and coverage of athletes; practicing skill competencies with current Athletic Training students; performing the duties of an Approved Clinical Instructor (ACI) to supervise and complete competence assessments of Athletic Training students; teaching 3 units of Athletic Training classes in the Exercise and Health Science Department (the specific classes for the 2007/2008 academic year include Orthopedic Assessment I and Lab - EHS 325 and 325L; Therapeutic Assessment Lab - EHS 323L; Therapeutic Exercise Lab - EHS 324L; and 2 sections of Athletic Training Clinicals - EHS 205 and EHS 406).

Qualifications are a bachelors degree in Athletic Training - a master's degree is preferred; NATABOC certification with at least one year of experience - multiple years preferred; experience in supervision of athletic training students; experience teaching athletic training courses; strong background in rehabilitation skills; ability to interact effectively with students, faculty and staff; and excellent organizational skills.

The Alma College Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE) team claimed its eighth consecutive regional championship at the SIFE USA Regional Competition in March 2008. The competition awards the SIFE teams that are most effective in teaching the principals of market economics through outreach projects in their communities.
