Temporary Painter

Applications are now being accepted for a temporary painter. The temporary painter will perform skilled painting work in all college residence halls. The painter will paint interior as well as exterior surfaces and must be familiar with patching of walls, preparing surfaces, applying primer, finish coat and all environmental regulations pertaining to the trade.

Five years of experience painting in a commercial or institutional environment is required. Completion of an apprenticeship program, trade or vocational school training and experience installing wallpaper, working with blueprints and specifications would be preferred. Must be able to lift and transport materials weighing up to 50 pounds on a frequent basis and up to 80 pounds occasionally. A valid MI motor operator’s license and a high school diploma are required.

Depending upon experience and other qualifications the pay range is $9.00 to $10.00 per hour.

The Alma College Percussion Ensemble performed at the prestigious Centrum Jazz Festival, an international festival in Port Townsend, Wash., in July 2007. Alma was the only college group invited to perform. “It’s a huge honor,” says faculty director Dave Zerbe. “You can’t apply to perform there; they seek you out.”
