Modern Language Position

The Alma College Modern Language Department invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track, assistant professor position in German Language and Culture to start Fall 2007.  Preference will be given to qualified candidates who complete a Ph.D. by June 2007, who can demonstrate prior experience - especially superior teaching that motivates and engages students - and who have demonstrated evidence of scholarly potential.  The ideal candidate will also be able to demonstrate the interest and ability to launch a new program in Chinese language and culture.  Standard teaching load is six courses in a 4-4-1 academic calendar.  Candidates must be committed to undergraduate liberal arts education, to a scholarly agenda, and to institutional service in a small (1,250) selective Phi Beta Kappa, Liberal Arts I college in mid- Michigan.
