Technical Director & Coordinator of the Oscar E. Remick Heritage Center for the Performing Arts

Alma College invites applications for the position of Technical Director and Coordinator of the Heritage Center for the Performing Arts.  This full-time, 12-month position will start July 5, 2006.

Reporting to the Associate Provost, the Technical Director/Coordinator has primary responsibility for scheduling and staffing Heritage Center events and performances, including coordinating and implementing all technical arrangements and design needs associated with the 500-seat Presbyterian Hall.  The Technical Director/Coordinator manages maintenance and repair activities, monitors the Heritage Center budget, supervises building staff, and trains and supervises student workers.

The Director must be an individual with significant experience in the field of theatre technology and design, especially lighting, sound reinforcement and recording.  Experience in dance lighting design and production is essential.  A bachelor's degree is required; an MA or MFA is preferred, and candidates with an advanced degree may take on some instructional work at the College.  Management experience in a college or university is desirable.  The ideal candidate will possess strong technical skills, an appreciation for the importance of artistic expression in an educational setting, and the ability to work closely with students, faculty, visiting performers and patrons.
