Who Should Complete a Master Promissory Note?

As a Stafford Loan borrower you will need to sign your MPN before your loan funds will be disbursed. You will only need to fill one MPN out while you are at Alma College .

First-time Alma College borrowers are required to complete this session which presents the student with important information about their rights and responsibilities. (This is legally required and should be done by the student.) 

To complete the Master Promissory Note, you need:

  • Your Social Security Number
  • Your driver's license.
  • A current email address (optional).
  • The name, address and phone number of two references living at separate addresses. One of the references may have the same address as the borrower.
  • Your Department of Education PIN (for use with the FAFSA) if you wish to sign your MPN electronically. If you do not have your PIN you may request it at www.pin.ed.gov.

Completing a Master Promissory Note

You will first need to select a lender for your Stafford Loan. When you are ready to begin the process you will be taken to FASTChoice which will allow you to compare several lenders before making your choice.
