Alma College Parking Policy

Alma College Parking Policy

During the week all overnight visitors must pick up a green Visitor Permit at the Facilities and Service Management Office. The office is open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Please provide the visitor’s license plate number. Visitors can park in Lot #2 overnight. Visitors arriving after 5 p.m. may request a Visitor Permit from Campus Safety and Security.

Weekday visitors must park in designated visitor parking spaces, which can be identified by the color-coded parking map. Parking spaces are available Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., for daytime visitors. A parking permit is required for parking in the visitor spaces in Red Lot #7, but a permit is not required for the visitor spaces in Red Lot #8, which is limited to 2-hour parking.

During the weekends, visitors do not need a permit and can park in any student parking lot as long as it is a legal parking space. Open parking in student lots begins 5 p.m. Fridays through 5 p.m. Sundays when College is in session.

Questions should be directed to Nancy Harger in Facilities and Service Management (989) 463-7250.

Tickets

Vehicles parked in unauthorized lots, reserved areas, fire lanes, on the lawn or in areas other than their permits allow will be ticketed.

Ticket fines are $20. Tickets must be paid before the end of the term as any unpaid ticket amount will go on the student’s account.

Vehicle Towing

Both registered and non-registered vehicles that are parked illegally and have received four or more parking violations may be towed.*

Vehicles that do not have the required parking permit may be towed.

Vehicles that are blocking fire lanes, blocking other legally parked vehicles, parked in posted reserved parking or on the lawn may be towed.
